Youthbuild UK hosts Sponsors & Patrons Reception at the House of Lords

On Tuesday, Youthbuild UK welcomed sponsors, patrons and sector partners to the River Room at the House of Lords for the 2026 Sponsors & Patrons Reception.

The event brought together key supporters from across the construction and housing sectors to recognise the collective effort behind Youthbuild UK’s work, and to highlight the role of partnership in creating pathways into employment for young people facing significant barriers.

A central moment of the evening was hearing directly from two winners of the 2025 Young Builder of the Year Awards, Ivenjit Bassi and Jahmari Cumberbatch, who shared their personal journeys into construction and reflected on the impact of being recognised through the awards.

“Being recognised by Youthbuild UK has given me confidence in what I can achieve and helped open doors in the industry.” – Ivenjit Bassi

“Youthbuild UK has shown me that there are real opportunities out there, even when the path hasn’t been straightforward.” – Jahmari Cumberbatch

Their stories underscored the importance of sustained support, inclusive opportunities, and employer engagement in enabling young people to thrive.

The reception also provided an opportunity to reflect on the wider context facing the construction sector, including ongoing skills shortages and the need to strengthen inclusive routes into training and employment. Youthbuild UK continues to work with partners across the sector to ensure that young people, particularly those from challenging backgrounds, are not left behind.

We are grateful to our sponsors and patrons for their continued commitment and collaboration, which make this work possible:
